OFFICIAL RULES OF 2019 CHAOS GROUP STUDENT RENDERING CHALLENGE:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THE 2019 CHAOS GROUP STUDENT RENDERING CHALLENGE: UNDISCOVERED (the "Contest"), sponsored by Chaos Software LTD. (the “Sponsor”).
These official rules (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between Chaos Software LTD., Mladost-1A, block 548 entrance B, 2nd floor, Sofia 1729, Bulgaria (“Chaos”), acting on its own behalf or on behalf of any of its subsidiaries or affiliates, and You. You agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself as an individual (in either case, “You”). You represent and warrant that You have the right, authority and capacity to act on behalf of and bind yourself. If you do not have the right, authority or capacity to legally bind You to these Terms, You do not have the right to participate in the Contest and win the Prize.
Any and all participation in the Contest, as defined hereunder, by You will be governed by these Terms. By accepting these Terms during Your account registration or subscription process, or by using Your existing account after the implementation of the Terms, or by accessing, participating and/or benefitting from the Contest, You confirm Your acceptance of these Terms and Your agreement to be a party to this binding contract. If You do not agree to these Terms, You are not eligible and do not have the right to participate in the Contest. If You do not agree to these Terms, You should not select the “I Agree” button or box (or other mechanism designed to acknowledge agreement) indicating that You have read and agree to these Terms, and You are not eligible and do not have the right to participate in the Contest.
1. SUBMISSION DEADLINES / IMPORTANT DATES
Call for submissions: October 1 – December 1, 2019
Judging Round: December 2 - 4, 2019

Public Vote Round: December 5 - 11, 2019
Winners Announced Online: December 12, 2019
2. ELIGIBILITY
2.1. To enter the Contest and be eligible for winning a Prize you must be a high school or university student and be enrolled in a computer graphics program. To receive the Prize, a proof of student status will be required. In case such proof cannot be provided, the contestant will be disqualified, and the Prize will be granted to the next qualified contestant.
2.2. Eligible for submission to the Contest is artwork (hereinafter also referred to as “Content”) created by a student during their studies or educational program. Even if the work was not specifically required as part of your education program, it is eligible for submission. If you are a student but created the work outside of your program and not specifically for a school project, it is also eligible for submission.
2.3. Submitted artwork created by students must have been completed entirely by them. No assistance from school staff or other professionals is allowed other than providing basic general guidance. Scenes provided by the school, scenes that are used as part of a teaching, and scenes that are not an original creation of the student are not allowed. Scenes found to be in violation of these criteria will be disqualified.
2.4. Submitted works must be rendered with V-Ray or Corona on any available platform by using a trial or any other legitimately acquired license. Trial licenses for V-Ray and Corona are available for free download at: /download-free-trials and https://corona-renderer.com/download.
2.5. You may submit no more than one image at the following address: /undiscovered. Scenes must not be watermarked with recognizable company logos or names.
2.6. Once a scene has been submitted to the Contest, you may not submit it for another Chaos Group contest during the calendar year.
2.7. Do not submit multiple views of the same scene unless they are significantly different from one another.
2.8. Once a scene has been submitted to the Contest, you may not submit it again in case of subsequent edition(s).
2.9. You declare, warrant and represent that under the applicable law, your own domestic laws, and under these terms and conditions, you are fully eligible to participate and, potentially, receive the prize.
2.10. Additional requirements:
a) age of consent (as may be required under the participant’s domestic laws);
b) valid right to use the eligible products and/or services in accordance with their applicable terms and conditions of use;
c) permanent residence, or equivalent domicile, in an eligible country as may be listed by Sponsor’s discretion;
d) full acceptance of the applicable terms and conditions or otherwise policies, which is hereby provided by taking part in the Contest;
e) meeting any other requirements which may occur to be applicable regarding the Contest; and
f) personal participation on behalf only of the individual enrolled as a participant in the Contest, but not on behalf of any third party whatsoever.
2.11. Participant’s identity shall be verified by checking the following data freely provided for the purposes of participation in the Contest as well as any other purpose as may be stated in the data subject’s consent provided elsewhere: name(s), address, email address, IP address, etc. Sponsor is entitled to demand and collect additional data, upon its own discretion, and in case (the free consent for collection and processing) such data is not provided, to disqualify the affected participant(s).
2.12. Non-eligible participants: members of the various boards of the Sponsor, managers, directors, associates, consultants or agents, employees, officers, and their close relatives. "Close relatives" shall include but is not limited to spouse, partner, child, sibling, as well as any other individual which lives in the same domestic alliance with any of the above. Non-eligible are any citizens of countries which do not allow and recognize for some reason the Contest. Non-eligible participants will be disqualified. If by way of misrepresentation they have won the Prize, they will be required to return it.
3. CATEGORIES AND WINNER SELECTION
3.1. Jury winner will be selected based on scoring performed by a panel of expert judges selected by the Sponsor upon its sole discretion. Their decision is final and binding. Shortlisted submissions will be scored on the following criteria inter alia: originality of the composition, modeling, texturing, technical difficulty, lighting, mood and overall approach to the presentation of the subject matter and impact of the work.
3.2. Public winner: up to 12 images selected by the jury will be posted on the official Facebook page of the Sponsor and a free voting will be made available to all interested parties. The image with the most likes will be awarded the prize of a Public winner.
3.3. Runners up: the next 3 images with the most likes on Facebook will be awarded runner-up prizes.
4. PRIZES
4.1. The prizes awarded to each winner will be as follows:
4.1.1. Jury winner
An annual V-Ray or Corona license of winner’s choice
Chaos Cloud credits — 200 credits for V-Ray (Please note that if you choose a Corona license as your license prize, you will not be able to use the credits due to technical reasons, and therefore you will not receive them. Credits cannot be exchanged for money or another prize.)

4.1.2. Public winner

4.1.3. Public runners-up (3 students)
An annual V-Ray or Corona license of each winner’s choice
4.2. Prizes must be accepted as awarded, are not transferable or exchangeable for cash. The Sponsor reserves the right at any time to substitute a Prize or a component thereof for any reason with a Prize, or a prize component of equal or greater value.
4.3. If you choose a Corona license as a prize you will not be able to use Chaos Cloud credits due to technical reasons, and therefore you will not receive the credits, but only the Corona license.
4.4. Due to embargoes and import rules, some prizes may not be shipped to the winner's country of residence. You will be notified if you reside in an embargoed country. In such an event, there will be no prize awarded.
4.5. Some physically shipped prizes may incur taxes or import duties depending upon the winner's country of residence. The winner is responsible for all such fees and duties. Should the winner elect not to pay those fees, the prize will not be shipped and no prize will be awarded.
5. WINNER NOTIFICATION
5.1. Sponsor will attempt to contact each selected winner, nominee, entrant by email.
5.2. The winners will have one month in which to claim their prize. Failure to respond within this time period will result in forfeiture of the prize, although the Sponsor will make reasonable efforts to contact the winner to ensure this does not happen.
5.3. Any winner found not in compliance with these Terms will be disqualified and will forfeit the Prize and, at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, an alternate entrant may be selected until the selected entrant meets all the qualifications outlined in these Terms and can be declared a winner. The Sponsor will not be responsible for failed attempts to contact a selected entrant. Any prize not collected within three months of the end of the Contest, will be considered forfeited.
5.4. The eligible winners will have to accept the prize on an AS IS basis and without warranties of any kind whatsoever.
5.5. Prize will not be replaced with monetary substitution by request of the winner. Sponsor may at any time, upon its own discretion, replace the prize with a substitute prize.
5.6. In case the winner does not contact the Sponsor in 30 days after notification and/or announcement, in order to collect the prize, Sponsor may nominate another winner.
5.7. The right to win the prize is personal, and may not be assigned, transferred or otherwise conveyed to any third party whatsoever.
5.8. The winner shall bear alone the responsibility for paying any taxes, fees or otherwise levies anywhere where eligible, related to the Prize or otherwise to the participation in the Contest.
5.9. In case the Prize involves participation in any events, activities, advertisements, or the like, the winner shall bear full responsibility that they will conduct their behavior in accordance with the requirements of any such events, activities, etc., as may be communicated to them at any time by the Sponsor. Winner shall not detriment in any way the good name of the Sponsor. While acting in their capacity of a winner, the winner shall wear at all times the attire and signs provided by the Sponsor, and the winner provides its consent to the Sponsor to use throughout the world, for an indefinite period, and without compensation of any kind, their name, appearance and image as may be depicted on picture or video, details of the place of residence, and any relevant comments upon Sponsor’s discretion.
6. INDEMNIFICATION AND WARRANTIES
6.1. You shall, at your sole expense and to the fullest extent permitted by law, indemnify, defend (at Sponsor’s request), and hold harmless the Sponsor, and/or its related third parties, against any and all losses, liabilities, expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) suffered or incurred by either or both of those, by reason of any claim asserted against them. If requested by the Sponsor to defend such a claim, you will not agree to any settlement without the prior written consent of the Sponsor, and the Sponsor shall have the right to participate, at its own expense, in the defense of any such claim with counsel of its own choosing.
6.2. You acknowledge and agree that:
(1) You have created, and you have the requisite rights to submit, develop and use your Content/artwork in connection with the Contest;
(2) Your Content/artwork does not infringe or misappropriate any intellectual property or proprietary right of any third party or violate any applicable laws, rules or regulations;
(3) Your Content/artwork is not subject to any restriction on disclosure, transfer, download, export or re-export under any applicable law, rule or regulation; and
(4) any information You provide in connection with Your registration for, or participation in, the Contest is and shall remain true, accurate, and complete, and that You will maintain and update such information regularly.
"Claim" means any claim, suit or proceeding arising out of or in connection with: (1) your Content/ artwork or use of your content/artwork, including, without limitation, any assertion that your Content/artwork or the use thereof may infringe any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property or other rights of any individual or entity, or are a misappropriation of any individual or entity’s trade secret, or contain any libelous, defamatory, disparaging, pornographic, or obscene materials or use thereof caused death or bodily injury or damage to the real or tangible property of any third party; (2) any breach of or failure by You to comply with applicable laws, these Terms or any policies or additional agreements applicable hereto; or (3) Your collection of the Prize (or anyone who receipt the Prize by way of Your authorization).
7. GENERAL RULES
7.1. By submitting you agree that Chaos Software LTD and its affiliates may use your submission(s), fully credited, for promotional purposes on their websites and/or for marketing purposes. You will retain all copyrights to your work.
7.2. As a condition of awarding a Prize, winners grant to Sponsor the right to use his/her full name (first and last), image and likeness for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes without territorial, time or use limitations, including without limitation online announcements, without additional compensation or notice, unless prohibited by law.
7.3. There are no restrictions on submitting entries that have been submitted to other competitions or previously published in public.
7.4. By submitting to the Contest, you warrant that you have the IP rights or obtained permission to submit the works for public display.
7.5. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to abide by these Terms. The decisions of the Sponsor and its appointed judges with respect to all aspects of the Contest are final and binding.
7.6. By entering the Contest, entrants thereby release the Sponsor, its affiliated companies, their advertising and promotional agencies, and their employees, representatives, agents, partners, shareholders, officers and directors from all liability including responsibility for any loss, damage or injury, caused by participating or their attempt to participate in the Contest or resulting from acceptance of the Prize.
7.7. The Sponsor, its affiliated companies, their advertising and promotional agencies, and their employees, representatives, agents, partners, shareholders, officers and directors assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. They are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any entry to be received by the Sponsor on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer and other property relating to or resulting from participation in this Contest or from downloading any materials in this Contest.
7.8. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, CHAOS SOFTWARE LTD. RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Any attempt to circumvent any of the competition rules or voting systems will result in you being disqualified and permanently banned from all future contests.
7.9. The Sponsor reserves the right at all times at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest and these Terms, in whole or in part, in the event of any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of the Contest as contemplated by these Terms, including, without limitation, any error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause.
7.10. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who (1) tampers with, or attempts to tamper with the entry process; (2) enters the Contest or tries to do so by any means contrary to these Terms or which would be unfair to the other entrants; or (3) violates any of these Terms.
7.11. By entering this Contest, each entrant consents to the collection, use, and disclosure, by the Sponsor, of the following personal information: full name (first and last), submitted entry information, and contact information (telephone number, address, and email address) for the administration of this Contest, including, but not limited to, the announcement of winners and awarding and delivery of a Prize. No commercial or other communications unrelated to the Contest will be sent to entrants, unless they have otherwise agreed to receive such communications. 7.12. This Contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and void where prohibited. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Terms or the rights and obligations as between the entrant and the Sponsor in connection with the Contest will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Bulgaria, including procedural provisions, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other jurisdiction’s laws. If a section of these Terms is declared illegal, unenforceable or invalid by a competent court, that section shall be considered invalid, but all unaffected sections will be applied within the limits of the law.
