OpenPBR support

Achieve consistent shading results across applications with OpenPBR, a new open standard developed by Autodesk and Adobe. A new OpenPBR mode in the V-Ray Material introduces this shading model, which promises to boost production efficiency by reducing the need for manual adjustments when switching between compatible renderers and applications.

New Layering scheme

Easily create effects like neon lights, dusty lacquered wood, peach fuzz, and more with the new OpenPBR-compliant layering scheme. The new hierarchy—placing Coat over Illumination, and Fuzz at the top—simplifies the creation of these complex effects.

Enhanced Sheen layer

V-Ray 7 brings in faster, even more efficient rendering and introduces a brand new Caustics solver in V-Ray GPU.

Support for Caustics

V-Ray GPU now supports Caustics, enabling realistic reflections and refractions in both production and interactive rendering. The new Caustics Solver, based on Photon Mapping, is optimized to fully leverage GPU hardware, delivering stunning results with impressive speed.

Faster time to first pixel

Experience powered-up interactive and animation rendering with faster time to first pixel, thanks to optimizations in the rendering of scenes that are instance and texture-heavy. Scene data upload to GPU and geometry compilation are also optimized for speed.

Even faster animation rendering

Render image sequences up to 50% faster in some cases. V-Ray 7 introduces an enhanced algorithm for more efficient caching of bitmaps between animation frames, further speeding up the rendering process.

Out-of-core textures

Render texture-heavy scenes more efficiently with the Use System Memory for Textures mode. This new out-of-core texture implementation erases limitations, with textures now only constrained by available RAM.

Up to 3X faster on MacBooks

Support for New Metal triples rendering performance when using both the GPU and CPU sides of Apple M4 processors while doubling performance on M3 processors.

V-Ray 7 for Maya supports the latest official version of MayaUSD 0.30.0. We’ve also extended our support to include V-Ray Clipper alongside other enhancements to ensure seamless data exchange between V-Ray integrations.
