Description
The psychedelic trio have much to live up to, but in "Yoshmi Battles The Pink Robots" they have more than met demands. It features all of The Flaming Lips trademark cosmic Americana, acid rock, infectious choruses and deep lyrical musing.
Wayne Coyne sums up: "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots" is not a concept album - but it does have several "sound story" compositions connected throughout the record - the Yoshimi depicted in the songs and titles is a fictional character. This album hopefully sums up music's triumph over the psyche that this concoction of confusing companions with it's story-telling acid rock (I guess??) and it's theme of sunshine funerals will render its listeners powerless to study or analyse it and enable them to sit back and - hopefully for a couple of minutes at a time - just simply be entertained.
