Written and directed by Diane English, creator of the celebrated television series Murphy Brown, The Women is a modern rethinking of the 1939 George Cukor classic of the same name. With a dream cast, The Women is a comedy about women, for women and by women – and is completely populated by women: not one male graces the screen throughout.

The Women follows the lives of a group of wealthy Manhattan women who bond together when their dearest friend learns of her husband’s infidelity at the hands of a backstabbing shopgirl. Mary Haines (Ryan) is a clothing designer who seems to have it all – until her best friends Sylvie (Bening), an editor of a major fashion magazine, Edie (Messing) a mother of five and author Alex (Pinkett-Smith), unwittingly discover Mary’s husband is having an affair with Crystal (Mendes), a gorgeous ‘spritzer girl’ at the Saks Fifth Avenue perfume counter. The women – including Mary’s mother Catherine (Bergen) – take matters into their own hands…
