Description
Let's get straight to the point. This is one of the best, if not the best, TV shows ever produced. Although not a commercial success when it was first broadcast, The Wire has grown from its cult status as TV networks around the world have picked up on its appeal. Written by former police reporter
David Simon the plot of this first series follows a team from the Baltimore Police Department as they attempt to infiltrate a gang of street drug dealers. You see both sides of the story the Police and how they try to stop the drugs getting on to the streets, and the drug gangs and how they try to stay ahead of the game. There are many times where the lines between good and bad are blurred as the human aspects of the story really stand out. At the end of the day it's all about survival.
The performances from the cast are outstanding and completely believable; realism has been a key to the success of The Wire. The show takes a few episodes to really get going as the plot and the characters start to develop, but by the end of this series you'll be ready to jump straight into the second series. And the best thing is... this show gets better with every series!
