Description
It just keeps getting better! The third series of The Wire now brings the world of political corruption and double crossing to a table already heaving with drugs, murder and people smuggling. We start with the demolition of the towers that Barksdale’s organisation controlled with the supply of drugs. This means new territories must be found and Barksdale’s soldiers must stand up to fight for the prime street corners many of which are run by new kingpin Marlo Stansfield. And with Omar Little continuing to rob Barksdale of drugs and money, times are starting to change. Shots are fired and lives are lost. Residents are getting desperate as they become hostages in their own houses as the drug gang wars escalate.
Major ‘Bunny’ Colvin comes up with an idea on how to makes the streets of Baltimore safe, but doesn’t get approval from his command and the whole situation takes another turn. Enter a young Mayoral hopeful, Councillor Tommy Carcetti, who sees the crime on the streets and plans to rid the city of its problems. At the same time we see Stringer Bell attempting to legitimise the Barksdale business empire, but double-crossing and lack of trust is eating away at the empire.
There are so many subplots running that we could be here all day reviewing them, but quite how this series manages to improve on Series 2 is hard to believe - each one gets better... which leads nicely into Series 4.
