A benefit album for clean air and clean water advocates Earthjustice, Where We Live skillfully collects socially conscious songs from an interesting selection of artists. Most of the tracks have been released before with the occasional rare or unreleased cut, but genuine sentiments and spirited performances throughout bond it together. Many of the highlights are the great duets. A soulful Tina Turner with a responsive Robert Cray on the live "A Change Is Gonna Come" and the short but uplifting coupling of John Hammond and Tom Waits on "I Know I've Been Changed" are two of the album's most moving moments.
