Description
This gritty Northern period drama, set in Gallowshields on Tyneside between the World Wars, follows the struggles of former sergeant Jack Ford and the Seaton family as they deal with the aftermath of the Great War, the great depression of
the 1920s, trade union activists and an uncaring society.
Ford has had his fill of struggle in the trenches and is now determined to make something of himself in the brave new world. In the event, he uses cunning, guile, and an enormous degree of cynicism to make and lose two fortunes and any number
of friends.
