Description
Paula Abdul started as a cheerleader for the LA Lakers, went on to choreograph dance moves for artists like Janet Jackson, and then launched a singing and dancing career of her own. Her brand of pop music always had a high degree of "dance-ability" to it, as this was where Abdul's true talent lied, and her music videos always insured that dance was at the center of the proceedings. However, her videography also contains a number of entries that are unique and adventurous in retrospect, and can be re-examined on PAULA ABDUL: VIDEO HITS. Three of the videos to her early hits, "Straight Up," "Forever Your Girl," and "Cold Hearted" were directed by David Fincher, and offer a glimpse into the filmmaker's early talents; "Opposites Attract" featured Abdul dancing with animated characters; "Rush Rush" starred Keanu Reeves opposite Abdul in a music video remake of REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE; Rounding out this collection is "Promise of a New Day," Abdul's last big hit single.
