Description
The rather snappy tune, "London" became a favourite on public radio & JJJ nationally. The vocals of Daisy Martey led out a fabulous pastiche of 60s swinging soul sounds, with a bang-up-to-date modern mix. The album, "Self Assembly", was greeted with some choice reviews, and lots of love at retail.
Just Jeans briefly borrowed "London" to accompany a cheeky TV & cinema campaign involving a dentist, his dribble bib, and a glam patient in a pair of jeans. For one week, the song was everywhere! But the album crossed many styles with panache. And the follow up is even better at style mix-up - vocalist like the fab Daisy, also Paul Weller, and Francis Reader, give the album a warm tone. The song influences mix 60s soundtracks, Broadway musicals, and an out & out dance swing.
Other Music sez: "Simon Dine's Noonday Underground is back with another brilliant pastiche of '60s leftfield pop via northern soul, swirling psychedelia and mod stompers. The former Adventures in Stereo member assembles more pop perfection with chanteuse Daisy Martey and a guest appearance by Paul Weller"
MOJO sez: "Three years in the making, Noonday Underground's long awaited second album, the follow-up to their superb "Self Assembly", doesn't disappoint...."
"..the real standouts come courtesy of Martey's thrilling Julie Driscollesque wail. Her hypnotic vocals on tracks "Boy Like A Timebomb", "When I Fall" and "Closing Time" are simply awesome"
