POUR HABIT

Maintaining the legacy of Fat Wreck Chords' continuing roster of Cali-based pop-punk bands, Pour Habit add a bit of vigor to the genre's usual three-chord, double-time melodic formula. There's a pervasive speed-metal influence on songs like "Institution" and "Zion," the former featuring a breakdown reminiscent of Unearth-style rage, the latter flying by on twin-guitar-style lead licks. At its core though (and down to its anti-authoritarian album title), SUITICIDE is a collection of blistering skater anthems, with a fair quotient of heaviness to lure in the headbangers and slam dancers too.
