Description
Amaya Laucirica was born into the rural solitude of Millicent, South Australia. At age 18, she moved to Sydney in search of more creative prospects. Studying design, she wrote songs as a form of solace and as a way to deal with her isolated start. She discovered music as more than mere distraction, subsequently moving to Melbourne to expand her musical prospects and feed off the city’s musical ambition and drive that she sensed around her. The project that was to become Sugar Lights gained the interest and approval of several notables including Mick Harvey, who offered assistance with arrangements and recording ideas and Peter J. Moore who mastered the album in Canada. Peter has previously produced the Cowboy Junkies and Lucinda Williams as well as working on everything from Neko Case and Emmylou Harris to albums from J.J. Cale. Amaya Laucirica creates music that feels like a luscious, esoteric embrace; intimate and comforting, but pure and limitless in its attempt to give you what you need.
