Frank Ifield was one of Australia’s earliest stars, from crooner to yodeller. During the 1950s and 1960s Frank was a massive international success in the UK, USA, South America, Africa and across mainland Europe.
He was the very first artist to achieve three consecutive #1 hits in the British Pop Charts with ‘I Remember You’, ‘Lovesick Blues’ & ‘Wayward Wind’. The single ‘I Remember You’ stayed at the top of the British charts for over two months and went on to become the first single to sell a million copies in the UK alone.
He played record-breaking concerts, had his own TV series in the UK and even starred in his own feature film. In the early 60s, Frank became the first to offer a young unknown group called The Beatles a support act on his show.
Frank has been inducted into the Tamworth Hands of Fame and in 2003 he was inducted into the Country Music Roll of Renown, Australian country music’s highest honour. In July, Frank will be inducted into the prestigious 2007 ARIA Hall of Fame.
