Newman joined the Vancouver BC pop/rock act ZUMPANO, and recorded two albums for SUB POP in 1995 & 1996 before resurfacing in 2000 with the New Pornographers.
Their widely-hailed debut Mass Romantic’ was followed by a 2nd LP, ‘Electric Version’ that became an indie smash and topped the year-end critics’ lists.
