While their debut album – “Save the Ones you Love” boasted a string of guitar based power pop songs and their follow up “Building on the Edge of the Sky” heralded an excursion into electronica – “Sirens” shows that the best of both worlds can be combined to produce something which is wholly rewarding and easily accessible. There is sadness in the songs of Halogen – an emotional resonance which signals a truly great band. There are tinges of the Cure, Lamb, The Rosemarys, Morcheeba but only hints – Halogen have got a sound and feel all their own.
