BIFFY CLYRO

In 2007, Scottish three-piece BIFFY CLYRO exploded onto the UK radar with their number one album ‘Puzzle’. The album delivered three hit songs and attracted coveted festival slots (with unashamedly rock ‘n roll helicopter rides between them) and tour supports of little known bands such as THE WHO, ROLING STONES and MUSE. The band also toured Australia this year, playing to yet another host of devoted new fans. Unbeknown to those hordes of new disciples was that 2007’s ‘Puzzle’ was not the band’s beginning, not by a long shot.

As the legions of longtime and ever-loyal fans (‘Mon The Biffy!’ is a well known chant among Biffy fans) will testify, Biffy Clyro have been a prolific and exciting force since the late 1990s. After a spectacular live show at T in the Park in 2000, the band was signed to Beggars Banquet. Three glorious studio albums followed; each as exhilarating, dynamic, experimental and simultaneously melodic as the last. ‘Singles 2001-2005’ is an album that celebrates Biffy Clyro’s earlier work, and for the very first time compiles their (often collectible) singles onto one disc. It is a stand-alone brilliant album and a concise and exciting retrospective for anyone newly discovering one of Britain’s finest rock bands.
