A two-disc London cast recording of a revue culled from songs written by Stephen Sondheim for such musicals as A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, A Little Night Music, Follies, Anyone Can Whistle, Pacific Overtures, Do I Hear a Waltz?, West Side Story, and Gypsy, and more obscure works such as "Evening Primrose" (a TV show), The 7% Solution, and The Mad Show. In anthology and presented starkly, the songs are (if possible) even more impressive than when heard in the shows for which they were written.
