Description
A popular situation comedy of the late 1960s, this wholesome family fare followed young widow
Doris Day and her two young sons, Billy and Toby. In the first season, the family has absconded from the congestion of San Francisco to live with Doris's dad Buck (
Denver Pyle, THE DUKES OF HAZZARD) on his ranch, located just outside the city in Mill Valley, CA. Doris gave up a career as a singer to make the move, and much of the show's humor comes from her attempts to adjust to the unfamiliar country life, and her involvement in the community. Other characters include Leroy (James Hampton), the ranch hand, and Juanita (Naomi Stevens), the housekeeper. Early in the season, Doris must contend with the attentions of the town swinger, due to the efforts of her matchmaking sons. In "Love a Duck," she accepts the challenge of trapping a troublesome poacher, and "The Five Dollar Bill" sees the whole family facing a difficult conundrum when a neighbor accuses Billy of stealing. Other episodes include "Dinner for Mom," "The Antique," "The Con Man," and "The Clock."
