Description
Split Enz are New Zealand’s biggest musical export and over their 12 year tenure their eclectic, original tracks won them a cult following at home and abroad. Following some initial success, 1978 was the band’s worst year – they lost their record deal, and had no manager but still practised and wrote frenetically. The Arts Council of NZ rescued the struggling band with a grant which they used to book a studio and record an amazing array of tracks over five days, the legendary Rootin' Tootin' Luton Tapes – which until now have never been officially available, and certainly not with the wonderful full remastering of Eddie Rayner.
