Description
The enigmatic ROBERT GORDON began working with punk band The Tuff Darts in the mid-1970s, appearing with them on the seminal Live at CBGBs set. Paired with genius veteran rock guitarist Link Wray in 1977, Gordon cut two kinetic albums with producer Richard Gottehrer – a credible combination which fused musical generations. The man had great taste, significant flair and an instinct for working with the right people.
As Colin Escott has written: “Gordon never was a rockabilly revivalist, although he certainly adopted some of the production values of early rock’n’roll: spontaneity, sparseness, visceral energy and absolute lack of pretension”. This CD includes the two albums with Wray plus NINE bonus tracks (featuring guitarists Chris Spedding and Danny Gatton).
