This collection includes some really rare tracks. They are mostly the best ones from some of his obscure albums. From the hugely successful Transformer come the big hit Walk On The Wild Side, the poignant love song Satellite Of Love and the Warholesque Vicious, quite a charming ditty. Caroline Says I represents Berlin, whilst Kill Your Sons is a good choice from Sally Can't Dance. Original Wrapper and Video Violence are two good songs that are buried on one of his lesser albums, whilst Legendary Hearts is a truly outstanding number. The album showcases all of the different sides of Reed, from the gentle balladeer, through the ominous rocker to the commentator and the rock poet. Retrospective is a worthwhile compilation demonstrating Reed's versatility as a rock genius.
