Description
Angie Pepper was originally the vocalist for Sydney band The Passengers back in 1979. Recognised as Australia’s “Best Independent Female Vocalist” at the time, she has gone on to collaborate with some major figures of Australia’s indie/underground scene including her longtime partner Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman), Clyde Bramley (Hoodoo Gurus), Ivor Hay (Saints), and Michael Charles (Lipstick Killers).
Res Ipsa Loquitor (Latin: the thing speaks for itself) is a new album of alternately soulful, rocking and psychedelic songs that highlight Angie’s sixties girl group attitude and raw rock and roll spirit. All of the original tunes were co-written by Angie.
Recorded at Dave Weyer Systems in Montana, USA with players from Deniz Tek’s touring bands and the psychedelic collective Donovan’s Brain, Res Ipsa pivots around the power and beauty of Angie’s unique sound. The result is a blend of Pet Sounds era Beach Boys and Phil Spector bands like The Crystals and The Shangri-Las blended with contemporary pop-rock sounds.
