Description
The Darkness are currently the most talked-about rock band in Britain. The past year has seen them cementing their reputation as one of the hardest working (and hardest rocking) bands in the UK, with live appearances the length and breadth of Britain, and in Los Angeles and Austin in the US of A.
The band have appeared on the cover of Britain's biggest-selling music weekly Kerrang! not to mention Bang, Classic Rock, Dazed&Confused, Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, The Fly, Trash and X-Ray.
In the UK the album debuted at #2 and is now certified GOLD. They have also been nominated for the MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE where the winner will be announced September 9th.
Putting your finger on what makes The Darkness the best thing to happen to British music for years is a touch harder. The presence of handlebar 'tashes, suspect headwear and even more suspect spandex doesn't bode well but a frontman straight out of the Freddie Mercury School of Showmanship and enough air guitar to keep even Brian May happy should get you sprinting to the shops. The Darkness might be hilarious but don't call them a joke!!!!
The first track to radio ‘Growing On Me’ is just one of many classics in waiting with Justin Hawkins' falsetto in full swing and a guitar solo that will make grown man weep. 'Growing On Me' is currently being spot played on Triple J, 3RRR and PBS FM.
