BRUBECK QUARTET, DAVE

Park Avenue South was recorded in July 2002 in an intimate evening session in front of an exclusive audience in the Starbucks coffee house on Park Avenue in Manhattan. The album is "a mix of the familiar with the new", says Brubeck, one of the most influential jazz pianists of the last half-century. Despite the unconventional recording setting, the final product is on par with Brubeck's other fine Telarc recordings live and studio alike of the past decade. In addition to the standards on this album, Brubeck also serves up a few original compositions. Features a compelling rendition of Take Five, the quartet's signature piece.
