Travel back 30 years where Om Kapoor (Shahrukh Khan), an aspiring actor and director first lays eyes on the magnificent actress Shantipriya (Deepika Padukone). Proving that love indeed knows no boundaries, Om falls for Shanti despite her husband’s protestations, an unrevealed pregnancy and the burden of centuries of tradition. Constrained by the social expectations of an unsympathetic society, it seems this is a love destined to never be, but in the inimitable Bollywood fashion,
love finds a way – through reincarnation!

After the sudden deaths of both Om and Shanti, the pair return to the mortal realm. Thirty years after their deaths the lovers once again cross paths, but this time, nothing is standing in their way. Together they finally form a bond to last through this life and beyond!
