Description
Combining a blend of rock, swamp, blues, country & cajun The Cassettes deliver a multi-textured adventure bound opus that could be described as an aurul "Gulliver's Travels".
The CASSETTES are Washington D.C.'s premier "vaudeville steam-punk" band. This "Musical Explorers Society" is fronted by Mr. SHELBY CINCA, formerly the voice and guitar behind such notable D.C. groups as FRODUS and DECAHEDRON.
Joining Shelby in his vision of pushing musical boundaries and expectations is STEPHEN GUIDRY on squeezebox & moog, SAADAT AWAN on drums + tablas, and the mysterious ARTHUR HARRISON a theramin guru who was recruited on the spot after Shelby and Stephen heard him performing the electronic score for a space doco in a planetarium / observatory!
he sound of The Cassettes strolls lavishly down the BEATLES ‘WHITE ALBUM’ ala "Rocky Raccoon" / "Honey Pie" path and has been also described as ‘synth-infused country stomp folk’.
After spending 3 years perfecting and completing their opus ‘Neath The Pale Moon’. The Cassettes signed to BUDDYHEAD RECORDS (owned by AARON NORTH of NINE INCH NAILS/ICARUS LINE fame) and has now been licensed to Inertia’s imprint ROGUE RECORDS (COCOROSIE, ALELA DIANE, BY THE FIRESIDE & BON IVER)
The ROGUE RECORDS 2CD edition features new exclusive artwork and a bonus disc of material from the original recording sessions that has never been released. Also featured is a cover of the ICARUS LINE’s ‘‘43% Burnt’’
