In the village of Badger’s Drift, octogenarian spinster Emily Simpson is orchid hunting in the woods when she stumbles across something shocking, however, before able to share her discovery, she dies from what is believed to be natural causes. Villager Lucy Bellringer, believing her dearest friend was the victim of foul play, calls in a reluctant Inspector Barnaby to investigate, who soon discovers a number of suspects & a web of secrets, with his suspicions confirmed after a second brutal killing.
CASE 2 - WRITTEN IN BLOOD
In the village of Midsomer Worthy, Gerald Hadleigh, a slightly mysterious man, a widower thought to be a civil servant in early retirement, is chairman of the local writers' circle. Much against his wishes, best-selling novelist Max Jennings is invited to speak to the writers' circle. His apparently drunken departure is followed by the discovery of Hadleigh's battered but naked body by his cleaner. Inspector Barnaby discovers he really was a man of mystery, with no relatives, marriage certificate or other forms of identification found. When a second body is found, Barnaby has a double murder to sort out.
