Taking sonic cues from Beck's kitchen-sink funk approach and Williamsburg's electro-clash scene, Avalon trawls his city's gutters and afterparties for both musical and lyrical inspiration. Topics--covered in sometimes hilarious, sometimes disturbing wordplay--include shaking derrieres, prostitutes, junkies, attraction to bulimics, rich and vacant starlets, cheap narcotics, and the pursuit of fame. The listener may need a shower after spending an hour in Avalon's world, but with ear candy as hornily infectious as "Jane Fonda," getting dirty never sounded better.
