Description
Having earned a reputation as one of the best British rock bands to emerge in recent years, The Cribs return with their Warner Bros. Records debut, Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever.
Their melodies are brash and memorable, the hooks undeniable spiced with splenetic intelligence and a healthy cheeky cynicism. A perfect example of this is their catchy first track, Men’s Needs which has been play-listed at Radio 1 in the US (7 weeks out from release!), XFM, 6Music and the video has been added to MTV2 in the UK. Off to an amazing start in their home market….
Hailing from the West Yorkshire town of Wakefield, The Cribs, despite their success, opted to remain true to their indie-centric grassroots, packing into the van and gigging hard night after night, gradually rising from the UK’s infamous toilet circuit to big rooms and festivals around the world including mainstage appearances at New York’s Siren Music Festival, Scotland’s T In The Park, Japan’s Fuji Rock and the prestigious Carling Weekend in Reading and Leeds. The band toured non-stop, playing gigs with such like-minded artists as Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party, Stephen Malkmus and Death Cab For Cutie. No matter the venue, their live shows were always volatile and frenetic, a barely controlled chaos of shout-aloud choruses, sloshed stagediving, and bloody lips beyond measure.
Produced by Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos, and mixed by the legendary Andy Wallace (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, At The Drive-In), the album captures the fraternal trio – twins Ryan and Gary Jarman on guitar, bass and vocals, kid brother Ross on drums blasting out perfect pop songs with provocative punk power.
