Description

Lonely Planet Six Degrees is the new flagship series produced by Lonely Planet.

Playful, sassy, street smart and unexpected, Lonely Planet Six Degrees connects to what makes each city special – the people that live in it. By emphasising the human dimension of travel, Lonely Planet Six Degrees moves beyond sightseeing and offers the surest way of being whisked off your feet and fast-tracked to the heart of a city.

Presenter Toby Amies braves the biggest New York snowstorms in a century to hook up with the Wau-Wau Sisters, New York’s colourful Vaudeville vixens, for a drive through Lower Manhattan. In the Chelsea Hotel Toby meets fashion designer Zaldy Goco and is cajoled into helping the catwalk models in and out of their clothes at the city’s glamorous Fashion Week.

Spray can maestro Nato initiates Toby into New York street culture with a graffiti safari of Queens. Toby gets an insight into how a New York artist engages the public when he meets Kenny Solomon, who solicits New Yorkers to be photographed in a hideous Afro wig.

Mischief-maker Brock Enright enlists Toby in his bizarre adventure business, which satisfies New Yorkers’ desire for new experiences by offering to kidnap them from their own homes.
