The musical accomplishments of Shawn Mullins include a dozen self-produced records, two Number One charting songs, a GRAMMY nomination, thousands of live performances and a successful side-career with Matthew Sweet and Pete Droge in the Thorns. His Vanguard Records label debut, 9th Ward Pickin’ Parlor, came in 2006 and included the radio hit and fan favorite “Beautiful Wreck.” His sophomore Vanguard album, Honeydew, was released in March of 2008, and featured Kasey Chambers as a guest. Live At The Variety Playhouse is the first live release from Shawn Mullins and is a Greatest Hits of sorts, featuring all of his biggest songs. The CD features two sets, one acoustic and one with an all-star band, showcasing songs covering the entirety of Shawn’s illustrious career. Included amongst the selections are Shawn’s biggest hits “Lullaby,” “Beautiful Wreck,” Shimmer,” and “All in My Head,” along with fan favorites such as “Twin Rocks” and “Gulf of Mexico,” and a stunning rendition of “House of the Rising Sun.”
