Description
This live concert special is the only time
AMERICA have been shot on film and remains a testament to one of the great folk rock bands of the 70's.
At the end of the summer of 1979 renowned Australian film maker, Peter Clifton, travelled to New York to film the climatic concert of
AMERICA's world tour at a sell-out date in the stunning setting of an amphitheatre within Central Park.
The band's founders Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley were accompanied by an all star line up of musicians and performed their hits in this electrifying concert as Peter Clifton and his crew of cinematographers capture the event on film. - Peter later returned with the band to Hollywood, California where he kept shooting Gerry and Dewey as they over dubbed the concert recordings at Capitol recording studios.
To complete the one hour film he then took the band to the Palm Springs desert to recreate the original inspiration behind "Horse With No Name" and then spent weeks during the post production shooting night street life, special effects and winter surfing in San Francisco.
