AROVANE is Berlin's UWE ZAHN and ‘Lilies’ is his fourth album released under that name.

Uwe released his first tracks as Arovane on the Din label, which also released the first of German dub minimalist STEPHAN BETKE’s work as POLE.

‘Tides’, (TOWERBLOCK001CD) its precursor on the City Centre offices label, told of a longago holiday in France. This time it's about Japan, where Uwe spent a week at the invitation of the PROGRESSIVE FORM label. .

It is a travel photo album, a case full of souvenirs. ‘Lilies’ grew out of his impressions and emotions from the experience, essentially a beautiful collection of memories.

Here, abstract computer funk of the beats meets samples of traditional instruments, representing the poles of progressiveness and Japanese tradition.

Records by VISAGE, YELLO, SPK, TUXEDOMOON, JOY DIVISION and the excessive sampling feasts of THE ART OF NOISE have been heavily influential.
