THE MOUNTAIN GOAT’s release their brilliant sixth album on 4AD, featuring string arrangements from Owen Pallett (FINAL FANTASY)... who has worked in a similar capacity with the varied likes of ARCADE FIRE and the PET SHOP BOYS. With John Darnielle remaining the band’s creative hub (this time flanked by long time pal Peter Hughes on bass and SUPERCHUNK drummer Jon Wurster), The Life Of The World To Come was recorded in three studios across three American states. Despite the song titles, the album is less a profession of religious faith than an immersion in Biblical poetry and imagery. The songs take their cue from verses that have either informed or inspired them: “It's twelve songs the Bible taught me, kind of...” says the ever intriguing Darnielle.
