GOTYE

Gotye (pronounced gore-ti-yeah) is 26 year old Melbourne musician & vocalist Wally De Backer. He Sings, plays drums, tinkles on the piano and produces Gotye music at home in his bedroom by sampling obscure op-shop rarities and collaging the found sounds together with his own voice and multi-instrumentation. The result is alt-pop mastery that defies easy classification but yet has already captured the hearts of Australia with the album going Top 40.

Learnalilgivinanlovin (pronounced learn a little giving and loving) is the first single from the Top 40 album "Like Drawing Blood". It lovingly recreates the production flourishes of 60s Northern Soul and Motown with a respectful tip of the hat to Phil Spector and his infamous wall-of-sound. Despite revelling in the past this is a pop tune for the now and a breath of fresh air in the current musical climate.
