Description:
The follow up to the world conquering This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours is a very different offering, taking its sound more from their seminal Holy Bible album. It is a far more raw sounding album than the two which preceeded it and finds the boys far more angry and open. Gone are the lush arrangements that so dominated its predecessor, and in their place are blunt guitars and a return to their political rhetoric that was a feature of Generation Terrorists, Gold Against The Soul and The Holy Bible.
This album also features a few firsts for the Manics with Nicky wire taking to the microphone for the first time as lead (Wattsville Blues) and James Dean Bradfield penning his first lyrics (Ocean Spray - about the death of his Grandmother). Their political topics span from the Cuban child who was caught in contraversy in the US (Baby Elian) to the insipid nature of British subjects (the very groovy Miss Europa Disco Dancer). Also featured are the two top 10 UK singled So Why So Sad and Found That Soul.
The punkier side to the album is seen in tracks such as Intravenous Agnostic, Freedom Of Choice Won't Feed My Children ("just brings heart disease and bootleg clothing") and My Gurnica.
Overall it is a compelling listen with some truly outstanding tracks. The Australian edition also includes the one off UK single which topped the UK charts, The Masses Against The Classes and also an Avalanches mix of So Why So Sad.
