This pretty much sums up what Cog are about long songs, intricate timings & structures, and intensity. They don't make it easy to find a radio single and yet their audiences love them for it. JV2 is not just the sequel to JV1 but is the doppleganger to the music they write, produce and perform so credibly well. Carla Werner's vocal highlights on The Truth and Other Lies for instance is stunning. A narrative, suspiciously sounding like Noam Chomsky, lurks under Paris Texas and the many textures, polyrhythms and vocal chants throughout keep you coming back for more.
