If you're expecting this to be a yet another garage compilation then you'd be wrong. 'It's All About the Stragglers' is debut artist album written and produced by the
Artful Dodger, Mark Hill and Pete Devereux. As Mark puts it "it will not be a 'Now That's What I Call
Artful Dodger album' but a collection of classic songs with great vocals".
Artful Dodger have been among the busiest and most successful writers and producers this year. Together they have scored a No 2 hit with 'Re-rewind' feat Craig David. Their collaboration with Robbie Craig, Woman Trouble, at the end of July earned them their third top 10 hit, ensuring that
Artful Dodger became a household name. Mark also found the time to produce No 1 and No 2 singles, and a No 1 album, for the nation's most talented teenager, Craig David. Pete and Mark have also been responsible for countess hit remixes with artists such as; B15 Project, Gabrielle, Sisqo, Brand New Heavies and of course Craig David. They have also mixed two of the biggest garage compilations this year including the most recent 'Re-Rewind Back By Public Demand'.
The first track on the album 'Think About Me' feat Michelle Escoffery is already causing a stir. With
Artful Dodger's production and Michelle's smooth and soulful vocals you can see why. One of garage and R&B brightest new stars Lifford features twice on the album. 'Please Don't Turn Me On' is the Dodgers' next single and their first down tempo release. His talents are again demonstrated on his second collaboration with the
Artful Dodger with 'Something'.
Artful Dodger's very own MC Alistair brings us the classic UK garage sound with 'R U Ready'. MC Alistair performed to the crowds at Glastonbury and in Ibiza, never failing to deliver he even got Gatecrasher kids at Creamfields dancing to 'Re-Rewind'!. 'What You Gonna Do' feat Craig David, the unreleased but huge 1998 club track, is also on the album getting the recognition it deserves.
Artful Dodger have also employed the vocal talents of Nadia for 'I Can't Give It Up' and 'We Should Get Together'. Their album also includes their three released singles, an
Artful Dodger remix of Moving Too Fast and two hidden bonus tracks.
