Description
My Morning Jacket is a five-piece band from Louisville, KY, built solidly around the vocal and song writing talent of group leader Jim James.
After touring both the U.S. and U.K supporting bands like Guided by Voices and the Doves, plus releasing 2 albums and 5 EPs, Foo Fighter's front man Dave Grohl was so impressed by My Morning Jacket he petitioned RCA to sign the band which they did.
Now comes My Morning Jacket's 3rd album, It Still Moves - you might be reminded of Sparklehorse, The Flaming Lips and Grandaddy. In James' voice, there's a frailty and sinewy strength that might remind you of Neil Young or Will Oldham. We're talking wondrous Americana, but on both counts, MMJ are more wondrous, more off-kilter, mystical, dreamy, purer, displaced, varied, dark, reverb-y and unique.
It Still Moves is already being touted as one of this year's most memorable alternative rock releases with Uncut magazine saying "An album birthed by the classics, then, that we should probably get used to treating as one" 5/5.
