Description
Introducing a poetic and charming band from New Zealand THE PHOENIX FOUNDATION.
When 'Horse Power' was released in NZ it earned rave reviews, the track "Let Me Die A Woman" was #1 in the NZ National Alternative Radio Charts for 4 weeks and the album was also declared universally as one of the top 10 releases of 2003.
Comparisons have been drawn to BECK, RADIOHEAD, PAVEMENT, FLAMING LIPS, WILCO, GRANDADDY and SPIRITUALIZED, as well as fellow Kiwis THE CLEAN.
They have recently supported international acts CALEXICO and EVAN DANDO.
"Strangely wonderful debut album, imaginative indie rockers with
urges towards free-wheeling acoustic guitar-powered psychedelic pop". -NEW ZEALAND HERALD
"Phoenix Foundation come on like a Kiwi Grant Lee Buffalo, slightly folky, slightly doomed, slightly eccentric, but with an ability to push the music hard" - RIP IT UP, NZ
