Description
The Birthday Party were one of the darkest and most challenging post-punk groups to emerge in the early '80s. Howard and Harvey’s rotting jazz-tinted structures provided the perfect setting for vocalist Nick Cave's difficult, disturbing stories of religion, violence, and perversity. As a live band the Birthday Party were unparalleled. The Birthday Party were Nick Cave (vocals/piano/saxophone), Mick Harvey (guitar/organ/drums), Roland S Howard (guitar), Tracy Pew (bass) and Phil Calvert (drums tracks 1-12).
