Description
Gerry Austin, a 19-year-old unemployed no-hoper from Auckland, uses a stolen driver's license to rent a 1978 yellow Mini, with little more than mischief in mind. Nicknaming his new set of wheels "Pork Pie", he offers a ride to a stranger, John, whose wife has just left him and returned home to her family in Invercargill.
With anarchic cheerfulness the two new friends set out on a road trip traversing the country from top to bottom, where John hopes to reconcile with his estranged wife. With the police never far behind, the troublesome pair, dubbed "The Blondini Gang" by the media, somehow miraculously avoid arrest whilst gaining the affection of a nation for their exploits, all the time thumbing their noses in the face of authority.
