Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Dntel's Jimmy Tamborello have come together to take an early shot at album of the year. Their collaboration, under the name The Postal Service has produced Give Up; an album of breezy electronic pop that updates classic '80s synth-pop with contemporary beats. The name is a tribute to their method. Tamborello recorded the music and mailed the tapes to Gibbard who put down the vocals, which are the perfect complement. Give Up is a thoroughly modern masterpiece.
