*Gojira's critically acclaimed third album finally gets a domestic release. Gojira have been hailed as the French Mastodon and will play a huge part in the next evolutionary step for heavy music. Musically, the band mixes several different genres including death metal, thrash metal and progressive metal, but there are also more atmospheric sections to many songs in a similar style to Mastodon, Textures and Neurosis.
*Lyrically, the band deals with subjects such as the environment and how people treat it. On "From Mars To Sirius" many songs focus on the concern of human-induced climate change and how it could affect our planet. Musically the tracks really flow together well, and the contrast between the more experimental and acoustic parts and the devastating heaviness makes the latter sound even more brutal. Both technical and atmospheric, Gojira have produced an album of interesting lyrical themes and even more interesting musical compositions.
