Description:
20 years after its original release, ROUGH TRADE re-issue one of the greatest “forgotten” ambient albums.
VIRGINIA ASTLEY (from VICTIMS OF PLEASURE and THE RAVISHING BEAUTIES) paints evocative aural pictures; the rustic sounds of an English Summer.
Much lauded by the music press on its release in 1983, 'From Gardens Where We Feel Secure' was Virginia’s debut album. At a succinct 31 minutes, Virginia’s delicate vocals fit in seamlessly with her piano and flute driven melodies.
The album’s previous limited availability, and demand for its reissue on CD is also timed to coincide with Rough Trade Records’ 25th anniversary and surrounding media exposure of the label’s artists old and new.
Virginia has also worked with the likes of SKIDS frontman RICHARD JOBSON, PETE TOWNSHEND, DAVID SYLVIAN, RYUICHI SAKAMOTO and the SILENT POETS.
A truly beautiful album, highly recommended for fans of classic BRIAN ENO and SUSUMU YOKOTA.
