Description
Sir Georg Solti recorded a number of works by Elgar with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and his highly-praised accounts of Symphonies 1 & 2 have continued to be strong recommendations since their original LP release over twenty years ago.
Symphony No.1 was first released on LP in 1972 and is now coupled with Elgar's tone-poem In the South 'Alassio'.
Solti was the first conductor of international stature outside the Elgar 'tradition' to perform and record the two Elgar Symphonies and in his preparation for concerts and recordings made a careful study of the composer's own recordings of the works.
