One of the most unconventional front-men in rock, System Of A Down singer Serj Tankian emerges as a solo artist with his debut album ELECT THE DEAD. System Of A Down, whose five genre-bending studio albums have sold over 16 millions copies but went on hiatus in 2006. So Tankian retreated into his LA home studio to write and produce ELECT THE DEAD. Neither a mellow excursion into world music nor the frantic war-cry of SOAD, ELECT THE DEAD showcases his inimitable vocals and incisive lyrics. Multi-faceted and multi-layered, ELECT THE DEAD is both provoking and from the heart.
Forget the endless parade of collaborations, guest, remixers or producers, the album is entirely Serj, though SOAD’s John Dolmayan and Brian ‘Brain’ Manita (Primus, Tom Waits, Guns ‘n’ Roses) do lend their drumming skills to the project and guitar/bassist Dan Monti and opera soprano Ani Maldjian make an appearance as well.
