Description
The Dandy Warhols formed in Portland in 1994, releasing Dandy Warhols Rule Ok on the indie label Tim/Kerr Records in 1995. Their next three albums (released through Capitol), The Dandy Warhols Come Down (1997), Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia (2000) and Welcome To The Monkey House (2003) put the band on the charts, on TV and in the spotlight with international hits like “Not If You Were The Last Junkie on Earth” and “Bohemian Like You.” The band enjoyed Platinum sales and sell out tours in the UK, Australia & various European countries.
In 2003, the band was chosen by David Bowie to be the supporting act on his Reality Tour and of course, the band was featured alongside the Brian Jonestown Massacre in the infamous cult-smash indie documentary film Dig!, winner of the Grand Jury Best Documentary prize at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. Welcome to the Monkey House (2003) featured collaborations with Nile Rodgers, Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes, and Evan Dando (the album also hit # 5 chart on the National ARIA Album Charts in Australia). The band have enjoyed great success here in Australia, which is home to some of the biggest Dandy Warhols fans and is one of the highest performing territories. October 2008 marks the 10 year anniversary of The Dandy Warhols playing live in Australia!
Since parting ways with Capitol, The Dandy Warhols have partnered with World’s Fair Group to launch their own label, Beat The World Records. ‘Earth To The Dandy Warhols’ will be the first ‘Beat The World Records’ release and is out locally through Etch’n’Sketch Records.
