DRIVING MISS DAISY

Affluent and decidedly independent Jewish widow Miss Daisy begrudgingly agrees to hire a driver after reversing her brand-new car into the neighbour’s azalea bush.

At her son Boolie’s insistence Black Chauffeur Hoke, himself a widower, is employed. Warned of Daisy’s stubborn nature Hoke is undeterred, greeting bigotry with humour and absurdity with self-assured defiance.

Opening in America’s deep South 1948, it is amidst a climate of great social upheaval that an unlikely friendship is forged. A friendship that will span some 25 years and challenge the limits of prejudice and forbearance.
