DEAD MAN'S SHOES

Directed by Shane Meadows (24/7, A Room for Romeo Brass) and written by and starring Paddy Considine (24 Hour Party People, In America) Dead Man's Shoes is a film with no winners and a very valid central message.The film follows Richard, a disgruntled soldier who returns to his home in middle England with one thing on his mind, revenge. With a cool, calm and menacing demeanour he wreaks havoc amongst the local drug lords and miscreants who harmed and humiliated his intellectually disabled brother years before. Employing subtle mind games before employing full-scale homicide, Richard dispenses with his brother's tormentors one by one in an increasingly cold-blooded fashion, only to realise he has become one of them in the process. Nominated for a number of British Film awards, and with Paddy Considine picking up best actor twice in 2005, it is clear that Dead Man's Shoes is not just your typical revenge flick, but instead carries a meaningful doctrine and facilitates excellent performances from a skilfully selected cast
